Good luck in getting back to it... I find that if I'm not emotionally invested in the project (ie. I don't want to work on it, just doing it because I have to), things take so much longer and I hate it more. It wasn't until choosing the right manuscript that the motivation came back... so I say, wait as long as you have to! You'll feel its pull eventually... :) Oh, motivation… that cruel mistress! I have such dreams, but it's still hard to go back and read that first novel (mine was a NaNo 2008) and NOT know what's coming next. I've put it aside for now, still taking Holly's class....
